This Black Locust Crimp is temptingly good. It features a 30 degree grip surface, but it’s barely a half finger pad deep. It’s wide enough to comfortably fit two hands, but the depth will make generating power from this thin edge tricky.
Black Locust is one of my favorites, and whenever I get to work with it I think fondly of the Black Locust trees that line the edge of my backyard. The wood has this wonderfully rich pinky-orange color that will age over time and UV exposure into a rich brown. The face grain on this hold got exposed to some Iron at some point in the creation process, and the tannins in the wood blackened as a result, I expect it’ll only look more gorgeous as it ages.
